In an attempt to successfully follow other recipes and use healthier ingredients, I decide to try a few basic recipes. One of them was split pea soup. I did not have the ingredients for the recipe printed on the bag of split peas, so I made the following instead.
Spam Pea Soup
1 pound of split peas
1 onion, diced
4 cloves garlic. chopped
3 carrots, shredded
1/2 can of Spam, diced
1/4 cup of butter
3 teaspoons of powder chicken flavor
Melt butter, and add spam, onions and garlic, saute for 3-5 min. Add everything else, bring to boil, reduce to simmer for 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
It was edible and I ended up eating it all, through out the week. Success!
