Poor Man’s Tekka Don

One of my favorite quick Japanese restaurant foods is tekka don. It’s such a simple but delicious dish. I was craving it, and tried to recreate it at home, kind of..

Poor Man’s Tekka Don

Poor Man’s Tekka Don. Canned tuna on a bed of rice. Better than it looks, but could have used a side of something green.

1 cup of sushi rice
1 can of tuna
1 teaspoon Louisiana hot sauce
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
Sushi rice vinegar
Soy sauce

Cook the sushi rice. Season it with vinegar. Create a bed of rice in the a bowl. Mix the mayonnaise and hot sauce into the tuna. Add the tuna on top of the bed of rice. Splash of soy sauce too if you want.

Result: Not quite as good as the real thing, but definitely cheap, fast, and easy
